- Plant immunity.
- Strategies for engineering plants for resistance to pathogens: plant or non-plant genes with antimicrobial activity or contrasting virulence factors; genes inducing or enhancing plant immunity.
- Disease resistance signalling pathways and strategies for their activation.
- Increase of resistance to diseases by using defence activators.
- Biological control agents to protect plants: mode of action.
- Transgenic crops resistant to virus and insects.
- Biotechnology tools for pathogen detection and identification.
- Case studies.
